ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

As Facility Managers and Hospital Safety Officers we spend a lot of our time preparing for accreditation surveys from organizations such as Joint Commission, DNV and the like but how much time do we spend thinking and preparing for CMS audits and validation surveys? CMS just announced that it is going to restart its validation redesign pilot for 2022. This will increase the chances of Hospitals, Critical Access Hospitals, and Ambulatory Surgical Centers receiving a validation survey. Which ultimately means that when our accreditation organization comes and leaves, an even bigger and tougher survey could be just over the horizon. In this session, Mike Jones and Ruben Garcia will share their experiences with full CMS validation surveys and their lessons learned. As well as recommendations for how to prepare and successfully handle a CMS visit.
