Program:

This session provides an overview of the DNV Healthcare NIAHO® Physical Environment (PE) survey process, including survey team composition, surveyor focus, and processes unique to the DNV survey.

In addition to this overview, focused topics will include current issues affecting DNV Accredited Facility Systems Managers such as the incorporation of ISO 9001 and infection control processes, interpreting third-party codes, and new CMS focus on categorical waivers, alternate equipment maintenance (AEM), emergency management, and changes for the adoption of NFPA 2012.

This session will enable the attendee to:

• Describe the DNV Physical Environment survey process, including unique methods.
• Outline how integration of ISO 9001-2015 requirements affects development of a hospital’s system management procedures.
• Discuss in depth the current issues, common findings, code clarifications and infection control integration into NIAHO® Facility Management systems
• Discuss the corrective action plan and appeals process actions expected of DNV client hospitals as a result of NIAHO survey findings.

About the Speaker:

Kelly resides in Acworth Georgia and has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare field. He is currently employed as a Physical Environment Sector Leader and a Lead Surveyor for DNV-GL Healthcare. Kelly has performed over 350 surveys for DNV-GL and has surveyed hospitals all over the United States, South America, Europe and Asia for DNV-GL.

Kelly holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager and a Certified Healthcare Safety Manager. He is also a certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001 and 14001 and a certified NIAHO Lead Surveyor.

About the Organization:

HAAHE is a non-profit group organized specifically for the benefit of the Healthcare Facilities Management team. Membership is focused on Hospital Facilities and Safety Management staff. In addition, Engineering Consultants, Contractors, Vendors, and Architects whose primary function is to provide consulting, design services, and products to the hospital engineering environment are welcomed.

The purpose of HAAHE is to provide a forum for continued improvement of hospital engineering in the greater Houston area. The venue for improvement will be through education, sharing of experiences between members, and presentations by experts in their respective field on a bi-monthly basis. If you are already a HAAHE member, please get involved by attending our meetings every other month. If you are not yet a member, you may join by completing a membership application at the next meeting. Lunch is included and will be free for paid members and $20 for non-members.

For the Calendar year 2017, we are now accepting membership renewals. Membership fees will be:

Hospital employees:     $50.00 annually

Vendors/Associates:      $100.00 annually

Sponsorships are available for each luncheon session. For $300 per vendor, you will be allotted a single table space to display brochures and wares prior to the luncheon presenting, will be recognized on our website as a luncheon sponsor, and will be introduced prior to the session start.
