Bert Gumeringer, the director of facility operations for Texas Children’s Hospital will present on the challenges and lessons learned with opening and operating new community hospital in the Houston area using the recently opened Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus.  Bert will touch on the following topics starting with the design through commissioning of the hospital:

About the Speaker:

Bert M. Gumeringer, MBA, MS, CHFM, SASHE is the Director-Facilities Operations & Security Services for Texas Children’s Hospital located in Houston, Texas.  In this capacity Mr. Gumeringer is responsible for 5.2 million sf of space and provides oversight for the areas of Engineering, Environmental Services, Patient Escort, Energy Management, Flood Management, Security Services, Parking, Regulatory Compliance, and Valet Parking Services.  Mr. Gumeringer has over twenty-four years of healthcare related experience with his last ten years at Texas Children’s Hospital.  In addition, Mr. Gumeringer has served as an intermittent consultant for the Environment of Care and Life Safety since 2012.

Prior to joining Texas Children’s Hospital, Mr. Gumeringer served as the Regional Director of Operations-Western United States for Fluor Corp. and as the Director of Facilities Management at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center located in Phoenix, AZ.

Mr. Gumeringer is a member of the American Society of Healthcare Engineers, a Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM #557) and is currently President of the Texas Association of Healthcare Facility Management.
