Program:
The currently adopted codes used by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for hospitals are the 2000 NFPA 101 and 1999 NFPA 99. Since the time of original adoption in 2003, there have been many significant changes to both code documents that have yet to be adopted by CMS. CMS has begun the review process for adopting the updated editions and has recently approved the use of certain provisions from these updated editions through the waiver process. This presentation will be a review of many of the significant changes that have been incorporated into the revised editions of NFPA 101 and NFPA 99. This presentation will also include a review of the recent waiver allowances.
